Who is Peter Pan?

Peter Pan is a Character created by Scottish novelist and playwright J. M. Barrie . A mischievous boy who can fly and magically refuses to grow up, Peter Pan spends his never-ending childhood adventuring on the small island of Neverland as the leader of his gang the Lost Boys, interacting with mermaids, Indians, fairies, pirates, and (from time to time) meeting ordinary children from the world outside. Sir James Matthew Barrie, 1st Baronet, OM (9 May 1860 – 19 June 1937) was a Scottish author and dramatist, best remembered today as the creator of Peter Pan. Peter Pan is depicted in public sculpture. There are seven statues cast from a mould by sculptor George Frampton, following an original commission by Barrie in 1912. The statues are in Kensington Gardens in London, England, Liverpool, England, Brussels, Belgium, Camden, New Jerseyand Bowring Park, St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. Two more statues (though not of Frampton's mould) are in Kirriemuir, Scotland, the birthplace of J. M. Barrie .

The Story Behind peter pan

Peter is a young boy who lives on the island of Never Land. He has a pixie who is his best friend and sidekick and is the current leader of the Lost Boys. He spends most days going on adventures and battling the notorious Captain Hook. In earlier story idea involved Peter's birth and how he came to be. When he was an infant, fairies entered his home and took him away to Never Land. When Peter returned he discovered another baby in his mother's bed. Feeling rejected and forgotten, Peter left and returned to Never Land - now his home. Eventually Peter meets Tinker Bell and gathers a group of younger kids and create the Lost Boys. The idea was dropped early in production as Walt Disney believed how Peter came to be was another story.

Peter Pan Relationships

Peter does not know his parents. In Kensington Gardens Barrie wrote that he left them as an infant, and seeing the window closed and a new baby in the house when he returned, he assumed they no longer wanted him. In Starcatchers he is said to be an orphan, though his friends Molly and George discover who his parents are in Rundoon. In Hook, Peter remembers his parents, specifically his mother, who wanted him to grow up and go to the best schools in London to become a judge like his father and have a family of his own. After Peter "ran away" to Neverland, he returns to find his parents forgot about him and had another child (the gender of Peter's sibling is revealed to be another boy in "Peter and Wendy").

Peter Pan Appearance

He is described as blue eyes, and with carrot-orange hair is light (or at least any colour lighter than black). Peter wears a tunic of jay feathers and maple leaves.In the novel Peter and Wendy, Hook is described him as "cadaverous" and "blackavized", with blue eyes and long dark curls which look like "black candles" at a distance. In most performances of Peter Pan, his hair is simply looks like a wig. He has a hook in place of his right hand and can use it as well as, or instead of, a sword when fighting.
